GARDENS OF IRELAND

In November we had a splendid talk from Louise Bustard on a recent visit around Ireland. She started by telling us there where no cacti and no succulents in Ireland.

Her visit covered Belfast, Dublin and Cork. In Eire she visited the garden of Mount Usher, where they had cork oak trees, a delightful stream and works of art. Also visited was the beautiful garden at Powerscourt.

In Ulster she told us that Belfast was not a botanical garden in the real sense of the word, but still a joy to see. Then we saw Mount Stewart garden with its topiary they had the red hand of Ulster and a Irish harp. The talk finished with views of the Giants causeway.

It was an excellent talk with some very good slides.
