October 2004 Meeting &
Plant of the Month Competition
MESEMBRYANTHEMUMS
David Porter came to us to speak on mesembryanthemums and
what an excellent
talk it was - the first half of the meeting we were shown slides, many taken
in South Africa in their habitat and what glorious scenery he showed us.
Some were not in flower as it was the wrong time of year but the plants looked
perfect.
In the second half David showed us plants that he had brought with him and how well he had grown these gems - some that I have never seen before.
We would like on behalf of the branch to thank David for a good talk and the way he put over the facts to us all. David seemed so fresh after a week of doing a minitour to all the Scottish branches.
